“This is not the glossy version of leadership; it’s the version with swollen eyes, dirty hair, and deep, fierce love.”

Hi love,

I’m writing this from a small town in France, where my days currently look very different than I imagined my planner a few months ago.

I’m here helping my mother-in-law begin a new life after her husband died following a year-long illness. She’s grieving. She’s navigating her own health issues and memory loss. Some moments are sweet and lucid, others are confusing, messy, and raw.

And in the middle of all of that, I’m still me: a coach, a daughter-in-law, a Wise Woman rising… standing in grocery lines, translating paperwork, and trying to remember my own body.

This is not the glossy version of leadership.
This is the version with swollen eyes, dirty hair, and deep, fierce love.

What this season is teaching me

Here’s what’s landing in my bones right now:

  • Lead with Love doesn’t always feel soft. Sometimes it’s sitting through the same story for the fifth time and choosing patience one more time.
  • Embracing Power can mean speaking up to doctors, service providers, and systems on behalf of someone who can’t fully advocate for herself.
  • Let Pleasure (not pressure) guide you sometimes means lowering the bar, taking a nap, and deciding “this is enough for today.”

None of this looks glamorous. But this is leadership, too.

This week’s Spark of Sanity 💫

If you’re in your own season of care taking, change, or emotional whiplash, here’s a tiny practice:

Name your truth in one sentence.
Then add one sentence of kindness.

Examples from me:

  • “I am exhausted and resentful today. And it makes sense that my body is protesting after everything I’ve been carrying.”
  • “I feel guilty I can’t do more. And I’m still allowed to be human, with limits and needs.”

You don’t have to fix anything. Just name it, then soften it.

You can write it in a journal, whisper it in the shower, or type it in the Notes app while you hide in the bathroom for 3 minutes. (No judgment, I’ve been there.)

A question for you...

Where in your life are you quietly holding things together… and forgetting to include yourself in the circle of care?

I would love to know what comes up for you, hit reply and fill me in. I read every message, even if my response time is a little wobbly right now...

And if you’re in a similar season and want a clear, grounded next step, you can always reach out about a Clarity Call. We’ll look honestly at what’s on your plate and find one or two gentle, powerful shifts to help you breathe again.

With love from France,
Andie xx
